Today it was announced that the United Nations would send Vijay Nambiar to Sri Lanka for the second time to try and negotiate on behalf of the trapped Tamil civilians, just as the Sri Lanka army launches a final assault against the LTTE:

Channel 4 News expose of SL Internment Camps

Channel 4 News reports from a camp in the northern Sri Lankan city of Vavuniya, where Tamil refugees have been taken.
Shocking claims have emerged of shortages of food and water, dead bodies left where they have fallen, women separated from their families, and even sexual abuse.

It has been in the top 3 countries from around the world in Government sponsored disappearances consistently for more than 15 years. Over the past 5 years more than 120 media personnel have been killed. More than 6000 Tamils have been killed over the same period by the Government of Sri Lanka. However it continues to receive about $900 million from Japan, about $600 million from China, and $250 million from India, per year. It is time the world community stops aiding a murderous regime.
